Alex is a Bay Area native where he began his architectural career after graduating from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and a one-year Rotary scholarship studying in Denmark. His international experience additionally includes three years working in a studio in Milan, Italy where he designed a wide variety of projects in Milan, Tuscany and Sardinia. These experiences greatly influenced his architectural sensibility and continued worldly travels augment and enrich his design vocabulary.

Upon his return from Italy, Alex established Studio Bergtraun, Architects in 1988. Alex and his wife Michelle thoroughly enjoy the Bay Area cultural life and natural wonders while trying to stay ahead of their two sons.


Janlee Wong, a San Francisco native, received her architectural degree from UC Berkeley and has practiced architecture for over 20 years. Prior to joining Studio Bergtraun, Janlee worked at an array of local firms where her responsibilities included a 3-block mixed use project in S.F.; new single and multi-family housing around the Bay Area; the new Monterey Plaza Hotel on Cannery Row; renovations of SRO housing in S.F. Chinatown and Tenderloin districts with Asian Neighborhood Design; Cafés and Film production studios, as well as new urban town and sustainable suburban planning in California and Florida.

Janlee is a devoted parent to her two daughters and this experience, in turn, weaves well into her understanding of the function and spirit of residential architecture.


Jessica is a Bay Area native and is proud to call herself a 5th generation Californian. She has an Architecture degree from UC Berkeley and before joining Studio Bergtraun, Jessica worked in San Francisco gaining 13 years experience working on high-end single family homes and wineries, located mostly in Napa Valley, Sonoma Valley and the Peninsula.

Jessica spends her free time with her husband and son enjoying all that the Bay Area has to offer. She has a passion for oil painting and hopes to find more time for it some day.


Kevin relocated to the Bay Area from Philadelphia in 2012, and has over 15 years experience in the design of residential, institutional, and civic projects on both sides of the US. With a BA and MA from the University of Pennsylvania, Kevin is particularly interested in modern architecture, and the relationships between buildings and their sites and surrounding landscapes.

Kevin is a registered architect in California and Pennsylvania and is LEED certified. Outside of the studio, he can usually be found exploring Northern California and landscape painting in watercolor or oils.


Celdin was born in the Philippines and moved to Chicago at age 11. After receiving his B.S. in Architecture from the University of Illinois he relocated to Los Angeles with the intent of gaining some work experience prior to enrolling in a Master program. He spent the following three years working with multiple firms on a variety of projects, spanning from commercial to residential. Now enrolled in the Master program at the California College of Arts and Architecture, he is also preparing to take the LEED exam.

Celdin enjoys spending his spare free time with his two rescue doggies and  loves going to the gym to recharge.


Michelle was born and raised in Milano, Italy where she received her M.B.A from the Bocconi University. Since moving to the Bay Area she has worked in various Finance positions for companies like The North Face, Cost Plus and Macys giving her a broad understanding of the local retail environment before joining the studio 15 years ago. She handles all the financial and organizational aspects of the business adding a bit of Italian flair and “buon gusto” to the mix.

Michelle and Alex have found that blending their work and life together has enriched them both.
