    Double good news this week! EmeryArt annual juried exhibition has chosen two of Alex’s watercolors for inclusion in this year’s show. You can see the virtual exhibit online from Oct 2 to Nov. 1 at www.emeryarts.org

  • Ceramic Sculpture in Walt Disney Museum!

    One of Alex’s ceramic sculptures has been accepted for the upcoming Walt Disney Museum, San Francisco show “It’s a Small World”. He’s very stoked to be featured in yet one more of their exhibitions!  His sculpture represents the dance of three generations – grandparent/parent/child – connected and nurturing within the flame of life and community.

  • Tiny Houses

    Studio Bergtraun just spent the week-end volunteering our time to build tiny houses for at-risk-youths in Oakland (YSA) and it was a very rewarding experience! The SF Chronicle just published an article on how successful these tiny homes communities have been in Seattle and it’s a joy to be involved firsthand doing something real to help the housing crisis that envelops our community. …

  • Doyle St. Art Gallery inaugurated

    In keeping with our philosophy of interweaving Art and ARchiTecture we are excited to have opened an art gallery addition to our Studio.   • Studio Bergtraun’s Art pieces selected for EmeryArt Exhibition!

    Opening reception this Friday, Oct.6th –  6-9pm Two art pieces by S.B.A’s architects will be on display at the Emeryville Celebration of the Arts exhibit: a ceramic sculpture by Alex Bergtraun and a painting by Kevin Smith.  S.B.A. promotes the integration of art and architecture and we’re excited by this recognition.  Exhibit will be open through October.…

  • Gropius House

    Just back from a great trip in the Boston area combining history, nature, art and of course architecture… a highlight was visiting the house Gropius built for his family after emigrating to the US. Highly recommended together with the deCordova Sculpture Park nearby.
